Grace Community Church (Arlington, VA) is seeking a full-time Director of Small Groups to lead with vision, care for group leaders, and cultivate a thriving small groups ministry where authentic community and spiritual growth flourish.
Mission
To create environments where it’s easy for people to connect, belong, and grow. We believe that connecting relationally is the key to growing spiritually, and we’re looking for someone who can help make that a reality for everyone at Grace.
Key Responsibilities
• Cast Vision for a small group culture that fuels connection and growth in a growing, diverse church.
• Coach Leaders: Connect with leaders regularly to provide support, encouragement, and resources.
• Recruit and Equip: Identify, recruit, and empower new leaders to lead new groups.
• Promote Participation: Lead compelling campaigns that inspire people to join a group.
• Keep Systems Strong: Ensure group data is current and accurate in Grace’s systems.
• Celebrate and Equip: Host impactful training and appreciation events for group leaders.
• Lead Through Leaders: Empower a team to champion each group type (men, women, co-ed, etc).
• Create On-ramps: Identify groups for skeptics and seekers (e.g. Christianity 101, Alpha, etc).
• Collaborate Strategically: Collaborate across ministries so that every next step—whether it's serving, attending, or connecting—fosters community.
• Flex as Needed: Help with tasks as needed to help the church and other ministries succeed.
Requirements
• A person of high character
• Experienced in leading small groups
• Passionate about spiritual growth and relationships
• A natural recruiter and developer of leaders
• Theologically grounded (formal training preferred, not required)
• Relational, warm, and high-energy
• A team player with a flexible spirit and positive attitude
• A self-starter who takes initiative
• Organized and detail-oriented
